Submitting to Fries on the Side...
Each week we accept freelance submissions and consider them for that week's show. If you haven't already, you may want to look over our Participation page (http://www.friesontheside.com/participate.php) to help you with future submissions. Here are some things you'll need to know regarding your submission...
How will I know if my sketch has been chosen for the show?
We post the lineup to our web site each week (http://friesontheside.com/shows.php) - Usually it's all posted by Friday night or Saturday by 3pm. It's your responsibility to check this page and be prepared if your sketch is chosen.
What do I do if my sketch is chosen?
The writer of any sketch is responsible for bringing any special props needed for the season, bringing special costumes needed, bringing a copy of the script for each actor in it and 1 for the booth operator with lighting and sound cues "clearly" marked. You have to arrive at the theatre by the time posted for that show on the Shows page so you can cast your material. If you're not familiar with our actors, you can ask that Shane Elliott (our director) cast the sketch for you until you get to know everyone better.
If my sketch gets cut because of formatting or something technical, how will I know.
Usually we will send you a quick email saying this happened if it's the reason your stuff was cut.
Disclaimer:
By submitting to Fries, you agree to allow Fries on the Side to use your material in the future at any time. Fries on the Side does not own your material in any way and we will not use it to make profit of any kind without contacting you and asking for your express permission. We may, however, use your sketch in a future show(s). If we do this, we will attempt to get in touch with you to let you know, but this is not required. Credit will always be given to you (the author) when/if we ever use your material.
Video Use:
We record every live show for our archives and upload a video of each sketch being performed to our various video sharing sites (Our Video Page). Again, credit is always given to the writer(s) of the material in all videos.
Thank you for submitting to the greatest "instant" sketch comedy show of all time - we look forward to seeing you at the show!
- If we don't receive this by midnight on the Tuesday before the show you're submitting for, it will be automatically deleted. Please submit again the following week.
- We get dozens of submissions each week and have to choose only 10 for the show. We cut material for all sorts of reasons. It's not always a statement about the quality of your work.
- If you're interested in finding out why a particular sketch was not included, please feel free to contact us (contact@friesontheside.com) and we'll be glad to go over our thoughts or notes with you.
